Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Salai ("we", "us", or "our") operates www.salai.co.il (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our AI grocery assistant service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service.

Aside from how we handle personal data: prices, promotions, availability, and related product information shown in the Service come from retailers and other sources and may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect because of their update practices, technical limits, or software issues. We use reasonable efforts to improve accuracy but do not guarantee error-free or real-time data. Before you purchase, confirm prices and promotions with the retailer. Our Terms of Service include a dedicated section on pricing and promotional information.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, as well as information we obtain automatically when you use our Service:

  • Account information: name, email address, password, and preference settings when you create an account
  • Shopping data: product searches, cart contents, shopping lists, and comparison preferences to provide price comparison and recommendations
  • Usage data: how you interact with the Service, features used, and session information
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device type, and access times

We may also receive information from third-party authentication providers if you choose to sign in through them.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our Service, including price comparison and cart optimization
  • Process your requests and transactions
  • Send you technical notices, updates, and support messages
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience and develop new features
  • Protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activity

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We work with trusted third parties who assist us in operating our Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, payment processing), subject to confidentiality agreements
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you
  • With your consent: When you have given us explicit permission to share your information

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our Service, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our website. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings and our cookie consent banner.

We may use analytics tools that collect information about your use of the Service to help us improve our offerings.

6. Microsoft Clarity

We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first- and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. For more information about how Microsoft collects and uses your data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement at https://www.microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement.

7. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM) on our website to deploy and manage measurement tags, including Google Analytics 4 (GA4). These services help us understand traffic and how the site is used (for example pages viewed, general geographic information derived from IP address, device and browser characteristics, and on-site interactions). Data collected through GTM and GA4 is processed by Google in accordance with Google's terms and policies.

We use Google's Consent Mode together with our cookie consent controls so that analytics-related storage and signals are limited or updated based on your choices where applicable. For more on how Google uses data, see https://policies.google.com/privacy. For Google Analytics data practices, see https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245.

The GTM container may still load when you visit our site—including if you reject non-essential cookies—so we can read and apply your consent choices. That does not mean full analytics or advertising measurement is active: your banner selections update Consent Mode, and Google tags that support it (such as GA4 when configured accordingly) restrict cookie use and related signals in line with your choices. Google may still process limited or aggregated data in consent-mode scenarios as described in Google's documentation.

Other tools we load through GTM that are not from Google (for example additional analytics or session-recording vendors) only align with your cookie-banner choices if we configure those tags in GTM with consent-aware triggers or vendor-specific settings. We intend to keep that configuration consistent with the banner; contact us if you have questions about a specific tool.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption, access controls, and regular security assessments.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
  • Portability: Request transfer of your data in a structured format
  • Objection: Object to processing of your data in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

To exercise these rights, please contact us at contact@salai.co.il. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
